Multiple Factors Engaged Heat Transfer in the Refuge Chambers
People Involved
Project Description
This project aims to investigate a few particular heat transfer problems remaining with the mining industry's refuge chambers, by considering interactions among the rock wall, human bodies, phase change material, and indoor air. This will enable (1) characterisation of the heat storage phase change materials; (2) understanding the mechanism of the dynamic heat transfer process; (3) illustrating the temperature variation profile of the refuge chamber during the operational period; and (4) developing a method for design and optimisation of the phase change material based cooling devices. The research will provide foundation for developing various phase change cooling devices suitable for refuse chambers and therefore, have certain level of theoretical importance and practical significance.
