Key Technologies for Enhancing Energy Efficiency of the Dew Point Air Cooler and its Manufacturing Process

People Involved

Project Description

Content / objectives - To significantly enhance energy efficiency of the dew point air cooler and associated manufacture process by using several innovative technologies and energy management system developed by the project team members. Application of the innovative technologies will enable the dew point cooler to achieve around 25% higher cooling efficiency and 40% higher COP (Coefficent of Performance). Implementation of new energy management system will lead to around 20% energy saving in the manufacturing process. Innovative aspects - (1) corrugated air-to-air heat exchanger (around 20% higher heat transfer rate over conventional ones); (2) chemical (LiCl/Polyvinyl-Alcohol) treatment of the heat transfer plates (increasing heat transfer rate by around 5%); (3) use of the magnetic effect of the rare-earth material to circulate the water across the unit (saving around 10% of unit power); (4) high efficiency and step-less speed regulating fan (saving around 10% of unit power); (5) intelligent manufacturing process incorporating the computerised energy management system (reducing energy consumption of the manufacturing process by around 20%).
