TRANSFORM: Detecting, preventing, and managing delirium in specialist palliative care units: Co-design and feasibility study of a flexible and scalable implementation strategy to deliver guideline-adherent delirium care

People Involved

Project Description

Systematic identification, assessment and management of delirium, common in cancer, is crucial; causes may be reversible, preventing further deterioration and death. Currently clinical guidelines are not implemented in hospices. A relevant and flexible implementation strategy adaptable for hospices and other settings (e.g. care homes) is needed.

Working with three Yorkshire hospices, we will:
1. Co-design a flexible implementation strategy, drawing on the Creating Learning Environments for Collaborative Care
2. Assess its acceptability and flexibility of the co-designed strategy
3. Explore the feasibility of a future effectiveness evaluation study of strategy-supported delirium care on clinical outcomes
