Project Description
The Offshore Wind Library (OWL), www.OffshoreWindLibrary.com, is the next-generation knowledge exchange and collaboration tool for the offshore wind industry and academia. It allows expert and non-expert industry members to readily and easily access state-of-the-art science. OWL provides company-wide digital academic consultancy on a subscription basis, with income used to enable future offshore wind research, development and innovation (RDI).
OWL provides a platform for searching and managing offshore wind literature, broken down into six packages covering all aspects of offshore wind sector: Marine Environment, Environmental Interactions, Structural Components, Operations & Management, Lifecycle, and Floating. The recommended reading database contains industry-focused summaries specifically of sector-relevant journal articles, written by academic experts. The expert-assigned recommended reading score integrates industry standard technology readiness level and assessment of industry benefit. A tailored database structure and search filter allows for easy and efficient searching. A customisable dashboard and lists to save articles with editable notes provide a personalised experience.
Uniquely OWL provides and encourages two-way knowledge exchange; industry users can provide feedback and scores on the relevance of articles, providing a complementary industry ranking of the research for sector benefit. Direct industry feedback is critical for effective academic engagement and to shape and co-develop offshore wind RDI strategies within companies and research groups.
