(Dr Na Zhu) A Novel Enivornment/Solar-Interactive and Building-integrate-able Power Generation System Enabling Harness of Solar and Environmental Energy

People Involved

Project Description

The applicants propose the first-of-its-kind Environment/Solar-Interactive and Building-Integrate-able Power Generation (ESI-BIPG) unit which, by incorporating a unique season-dependent,
heat-flow-adjustable loop heat pipe and a unique shape-stabilized phase change material (SSPCM) with a novel absorbent material-diatomite, can harness the both solar and environmental energy simultaneously, and thus, provide a larger power output compared to existing BIPGs. The new ESI-BIPG, as shown in Fig.1, comprises a BIPV module, a TE module, a season-dependent heat-flow-adjustable micro-channel loop heat pipe (MCLHP) array and two novel SSPCM blocks.
