SMOOTH: Smoothing the Digital Identity Onboarding Process
People Involved
Project Description
In order to achieve this, the project aims to develop a model Experience Centre (EC). ECs are physical locations where users can register and collect digital IDs, credentials, and integrate them with other systems and services such as civil registration systems, e-sign, and electronic health records management (Figure 1). ECs aim to provide convenience and accessibility for users, particularly for marginalised communities, and improve the efficiency of the onboarding process with additional services such as document verification, biometric capture, and identity document scanning. Such an EC would provide a secure and user-friendly environment for users to interact with the digital identity system and develop confidence in the trustworthy digital ID system. We envision an EC as a Digital Identity Playground that can positively shape citizen’s first impression with the technology and, in turn, promote adoption of DI technology.
