Project Description

This project will consist of three principal elements.
1. A literature review of available techniques for the monitoring and assessment on inshore fish communities. Techniques to be explored include
a. Baited underwater video
b. Fishing using scientific trawls – aligning with WFD methodologies
c. Use of fish traps
d. Potential use of eDNA approaches
e. Potential use of sonar techniques (such as cameras)
2. A desk-based study of the likely efficacy of these techniques in a potential future pilot in the SW regional sea area.
3. The development of a costed project delivery plan for the piloting of an integrated approach to characterizing and monitoring inshore fish communities and relevant impacting pressures, in the SW regional sea area.
