Project Description
The project aims to improve musical education delivery to hard-to-reach communities and enhance the national workforce in this area. The impact ambitions align to the objectives of the university in terms of social justice and sustainability. It will achieve this by providing a framework to broaden access to music education nationally via remote training to districts that otherwise would be too small for in person training to be feasible. It is sustainable because it will be driven through technology and cut down on the amount of travel required for face-to-face training, ultimately allowing one teacher to cover a greater catchment area. In addition, it will provide much needed expertise for music educators many of which are freelance workers and hence lack official institutional support. By creating an online community of remote teachers, they will have expert peer support of how to deal with challenges and share best practice.
