Over the past few years at Hull University Business School, we have developed a strong expertise in the fields of circular economy and low-carbon supply chains. Our efforts have been instrumental in contributing to several diverse projects that have received funding from organizations such as EPSRC, STFC, and KTP.
In Indonesia, the concept of a circular economy aligns perfectly with the goals set by the Government of Indonesia to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reach net-zero emissions. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has been collaborating closely with the Indonesian government to integrate the principles of the circular economy into the national development plan.
Recently, we have initiated a close partnership with IBT University in Indonesia, fostering the exchange of research findings between our institutions. During our discussions, we have come to realize that sharing best practices in the circular economy can significantly benefit both countries in efficiently utilizing natural resources and minimizing waste.
The primary aim of the HIKE application is to facilitate workshops that bring together researchers from the UK and Indonesia, as well as industry professionals and policymakers from Indonesia. The overarching objective is to facilitate the exchange of research findings, identify common areas of interest, and formulate relevant research questions that can contribute to advancing the circular economy agendas of both countries.
In these interdisciplinary workshops, we will extend invitations to participants of all genders, including early-career professionals and those with extensive experience, hailing from both industry and academia. Our goal is to actively engage professionals with diverse backgrounds and individuals from various fields to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive perspective.
